Get into the festive spirit with these Christmas crafting ideas for Nurseries!
As we head into the most wonderful time of year, it’s time to plan some fun festive crafts for your nursery pupils to enjoy.
Here’s a few Christmas crafts that we love, and are perfect for kids aged under 5. Why not give them a go?
Gingerbread Man ornament

Print out a blank Gingerbread Man – there’s some printables here.
Use a hole punch at the top of the Gingerbread Man to create a hole, to then later loop some ribbon through.
Let your Nursery pupils go wild with crayons, felt tips, glitter and stick ons to create their Gingerbread Man decoration. Sticking on googly eyes is a must!
Once they’re done, take a short piece of ribbon (six inches in length is ideal) and loop it through the hole you previously punched through. Tie the ends of the ribbon together and you’re done!
Reindeer Photo Frame

Paint your child’s hands with brown paint and have them press their hands onto white paper.
After washing their hands, have them paint a photo frame with the same brown colour while you cut their hand prints out.
When the frame is dried, let them stick on eyes, a nose and their handprints as the Reindeers antlers. You’ve just made a great Festive keepsake for them to take home!
Paper plate Elf

Using a brush or sponge, paint a paper plate with a flesh colour. Cut out two pointy ears from paper and paint them the same colour.
While you let that dry, cut out a large triangle of green paper to use as a hat, and another large triangle of green to use as the Elf’s shirt.
Cut a wavy 1-inch strip of red paper, the same length as the Elf’s hat. This will make the Elf’s red hair.
On the back side of the plate, glue the ears on to either side of the plate. Then glue the green triangle to the bottom of the plate to make the shirt.
Flip the plate back to the front and glue on the large green hat, and the red strip of hair.
Glue on some googly eyes, a red pom pom for a nose, and some red pom poms for buttons on the shirt.
Finish with either a pipe cleaner mouth, or draw on a mouth with a felt tip pen. Done!
